Voices, or voices and faces
An audio guestbook keeps your guests' voices. A video guestbook keeps their voices and their faces: the smiles, the laughter and the happy tears that go with every word.
If you want the most complete keepsake, choose video. If you love the simplicity of a voice-only message, audio is a beautiful choice too.
What is an audio guestbook?
An audio guestbook is a vintage-style telephone set up at your celebration. Guests pick up the receiver, usually hear a short greeting, and leave a voice message. After the event, you receive the recordings to listen back to whenever you like.
It is a modern take on the traditional written guestbook, and it captures something a pen never could: the sound of the people you love.
What is a video guestbook?
A video guestbook keeps the same ritual of picking up a telephone, and also records your guests on camera. At The Kairos, our sign walks guests through it in four simple steps:
- Pick up the phone
- Look at the camera
- Share your message
- Hang up when you're finished
Every message is filmed with sound, so you see each guest's face as well as hearing their voice. After your event, we compile all the messages and deliver them through a private download link within 7–14 days.
How they compare
| Audio guestbook | Video guestbook | |
|---|---|---|
| What you keep | Voice recordings | Video with sound: faces and voices |
| How guests use it | Pick up the phone and speak | Pick up the phone, look at the camera and speak |
| Reliving it | Listening | Watching, or simply listening |
| Best for | Voice-only memories and a simple setup | Seeing every expression and the people behind each message |
Which one suits you?
Choose video if
- you want to remember how people looked on the day, not just how they sounded
- you'd love to see your grandparents, family and friends as they share their words
- you'd like a keepsake to share with family who couldn't be there
Choose audio if
- you prefer a voice-only keepsake
- you expect many of your guests to be camera-shy
- you want the simplest possible format
At The Kairos we specialise in video guestbooks, because we believe faces and voices belong together. Every message is recorded with sound, so you keep everything an audio guestbook gives you, and more.
